When the Calif. Parks Dept. issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the property leased by Bazaar del Mundo (collection of retail stores and restaurants) in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, despite its having become the State’s most successful concession, our client sued the state and the company for numerous aspects of the process. Two years of litigation ensued, during which time we were challenged to inform media and the public of developments, and to encourage support for our client. While our efforts wouldn’t alter courtroom decisions, they worked to influence politicians, kept business strong, and eventually helped launch a new Bazaar del Mundo outside of the State Park’s complex.
